I have lots of hobbies and interests that give me an interesting take on the world. Skydiving, scuba diving, and traveling are just small samples of activities I enjoy. In truth, there is very little that doesn’t interest me on some level. I have even collected comic books and stamps.
In 2011, I returned to school to pursue a Bachelor of Science in journalism. I earned my degree in public relations on December 18, 2013.
My road to professional writing started with an invitation to freelance for a local newspaper. The exposure to writing for large audiences developed into a passion and a means of self-expression. After I lost my full-time job, my new found admiration for writing led me to enroll at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC).As an SOJC student, I got the chance to intern for a local business; the job required me to develop social media platforms, write external communications, and cultivate relationships. A particularly tremendous experience was working with ESPN’s College GameDay crew.
The work I’ve done since my internship resulted in several opportunities to write for national publications. I’m pleased with the responses the articles have received and how they influenced others to handle similar situations.
I love to live life to its fullest and share my ideas. Through this blog, I hope to expose people to an experience or a point of view they may not have considered; my goal is to stimulate thought and inspire.
